After washing your makeup brushes, it's best to store them upside down, so the water doesn't leek into the barrel of the makeup brush.
Now you may think, what does it matter?! Well if water leeks into the barrel, that means all the hairs of the makeup brush will fall out and that 50, 80, or even 120 dollar makeup brush is garbage!
Buying the brush tree in my mind is a great investment in your money for 29.99 you can pick one of these up at http://www.benjabelle.com/products/original-brush-tree for 50 bucks you can pick up the mini and the large. I have both. ^____^

I do videos on makeup, fashion, hauls, and so much more! Giveaways are coming also! (:
This is the large brush tree, made for holding larger brushes like powder, foundation, angle, and bronzing brushes.
This is the mini brush tree, made for holding all kinds of eyeshadow, pencil, crease, and blending brushes.
Now if you'd perfer to only buy one, not to worry! I've got a little trick for you buy a large brush tree, you can group 3 or 4 thinner brushes into one large hole.
The mini holds up to 24 makeup brushes, and the large holds 14.
Cleaning your brush tree is simple too! You can wipe down your Brush Tree with a soft damp towel. Just remember they are not dishwasher friendly, doing so will ruin them!
If you break a leg don't worry, you can get a replacement one here:
